WWII Vet, 90, Fights to Go Home After Eviction on Stretcher; Needs $15K

Johnnie Hodges Sr., 90, a WWII Vet lost his house in foreclosed… In 1990’s, he took out second loan to fix the house; and the loan was behind years ago. He started behind the payment his house after his wife Alzheimer’s in 2008 and bills started building up… His children knew the problem after his wife passing last year.
Since the eviction, he has been lving at a senior citizens’ apartment in Cheektowaga, N.Y. He really want to live in his house for the rest his life; now he is 90 years old. The house has a lot memories to him; it’s where his wife and him living for a long time. All his children also had been raised there.
Now, the house is owned by Department of Housing and Urban Development which allows him/his family purchases back the house but the purchasing must be done before the house is going to the auction. It must be before November 5.

The goal was met 10 days ago. It was not only met, it was also double the amount which the goal was set ($110,711 of $50k and was raised by 2,189 people in 4 months). The organization stopped taking anymore donation because the money is enough for getting the house back, making any maintenance and covering tax and insurance. His daughter said the family got a lot mails with money from people.
They’ll make a celebration “homecoming party” for him on 11/11 (Veterans Day).
We’re so happy for him and his family. From now on, he can live in this house for the rest his life without worrying.
